PCI-DSS Scanning
To help with data security and consumer protection, the Payment Card Industry created the Data Security Standard, also known as PCI-DSS. This is a mandatory requirement for all merchants who store and process payments via credit and debit cards. The PCI-DSS ensures that both the Network and System Security of your infrastructure meets the requirements set by the PCI Security Council.
The PCI-DSS requires merchants to have periodic scans of their merchant networks to identify and resolve critical vulnerabilities or security anomalies within their infrastructure. If their network fails to meet the PCI-DSS requirements, severe restrictions can be put on the merchant by their bank and by card issuers, and can ultimately lead to the termination of their card authorisation facility.
